The 2009 English version of Book of Poetry translated by Xu Yuanchong is the first complete English translation of the book by a Chinese translator. By adopting translation strategies and interpretation methods such as cultural adaptability, historical contextualization of poetic themes, and emphasis on formal equivalence, this version has broken fresh ground for the book’s overseas translation and introduction dominated by western discourse by not only adhering to the Chinese cultural stance but also following closely the world trend, so it is of significant academic and social values for the cross-cultural interpretation and overseas communication of Chinese culture.
