女性意识的早期崛起与长期收入表现

The Early Rise of Female Consciousness and Long-Term Income Performance

本文利用清末民国时期中国女性进步期刊数据和2010年中国家庭跟踪调查数据(CFPS),探讨了女性意识的早期崛起对当代女性收入的长期影响。研究发现,平权意识打破了传统性别观念,提高了当代女性的收入水平。具体而言,早期先进女性期刊发行种类数量越多、延续时间越长、发行总量越大的地区,当地现代女性收入则会越高。原因在于,女性期刊的发行对其早期意识的培养和人力资本积累产生了积极的代际影响。

Using data from Chinese progressive female journals from the late Qing Dynasty and the Republican period,and 2010 China Family Panel Studies(CFPS),this paper explores the long-term impact of the early development of female consciousness on contemporary female incomes.It finds that the disruption of the traditional concept of gender equality by the female consciousness is conducive to improving the income level of contemporary women.Specifically,in regions where the number of female journals is more,the duration is longer,and the total circulation is larger,the local female incomes will be higher.This phenomenon mainly occurs because the distribution of female journals presents a positive intergenerational impact on the cultivation of early female consciousness of equality and the accumulation of human capital.
