Influence of the Mao Zedong’s Speech at the Yan’an Conference on Literature and Art on the “Seventeen Years” Comic Strips: Centering on the Early Comic Strips

毛泽东《在延安文艺座谈会上的讲话》论述了文艺为什么人服务和如何去服务等一系列重要问题,对“十七年”(1949—1966)连环画的题材选择、服务策略、创作路径和艺术批评等方面均产生了深刻影响。早期的《连环画报》(1951—1960)是“十七年”连环画发展的重要参与者和推动者,本文以《连环画报》为主要研究对象,探讨连环画的发展脉络、风格特征及其与《讲话》之间的联系。

Mao Zedong’s Speech at the Yan’an Conference on Literature and Art discussed a series of important issues such as what kinds of people literature and art serve and how to serve them, which had a profound impact on the subject selection, service strategies, creative paths,and artistic criticism of comic strips of the “Seventeen Years”(1949-1966). The evolution of the comic strips of the “Seventeen Years” was significantly aided and supported by the early Comic Strips(1951±1960). This paper takes Comic Strips as the primary research subject to explore the development path of the comic strips, their stylistic characteristics, and their connection with the Talks.
