History and Literature:A Few Points about Public History Writing

这是王笛教授应人民文学出版社邀请所做的关于历史与文学关系讲座的整理稿,主要讨论了如下问题:以文证史是近代中国史学传统的一部分,历史书写与文学的关系,历史写作的不真实性,多学科交叉是不可逆转的趋势,写同时代的文学其实也是在记录历史,文学和历史相辅相成等。这个报告主要阐明了要让历史走出象牙塔,历史的写作就必须要有文学性。而文学的写作在一定程度上也反映了历史,因此历史和文学两者是相辅相成的。

This is a transcript of the lecture on the relationship between history and literature delivered by Professor Wang Di at the invitation of the People’s Literature Publishing House.It mainly discusses the following issues:Using literature to prove history is part of the tradition of modern Chinese historiography;the relationship between historical writing and literature;the inauthenticity of historical writing;multidisciplinary intersection is irreversible trends;writing contemporary literature is actually recording history;and literature and history complement each other.Professor Wang’s lecture mainly discusses if history writing wants to serve public,it must be readable.To a certain extent,literature also reflects history,so history and literature complement each other.
