This paper analyzed the items about lumbago in Essential Recipes for Emergent Use Worth a Thousand Gold.SUN Simiao treated lumbago with bright academic characteristics,small formula with special effect and significant clinical effect.He made good use of wine preparation to improve medicinal efficacy,and to expel cold and relieve muscles,activate pulse and relieve pain;He made good use of wind-expelling medicine to expel wind and release exterior,lift and expel pathogens,relieve muscles and dredge collaterals;He made good use of Fuzi(Aconti Lateralis Radix Praeparaia)to expel cold from both exterior and interior,dredge blood stasis from collaterals and to relieve pain.The formula corresponds to the syndrome,and the formula follows the syndrome.Combining with modern clinical practice,we can find effective methods and medicines for the treatment of lumbago.
