现代小说在反思和批判中省思自我、观察世界,它不仅书写人和世界是什么样的,也思考人和世界应该是什么样的。徐则臣就是通过思考让自己的写作变得宽阔的有代表性的一个作家。考察他的写作观的形成、变化和要旨,可以印证理性思考和自我争辩是如何扩大作家视野、建构小说意蕴的。他的小说美学严实、均衡、诚正,兼具意趣和学识、实感和哲思。他有鲜明的确立自我的意识,又能通过写同代人、“到世界去”和艺术自律这几个方面来平衡自我的感受、扩大自我的容量。他的写作是对自我和世界的双重确证,也代表了“70后”作家对小说艺术的跋涉和守护。
