摘要
转喻能力是语言学习者应该具备的一种交际能力。本研究集中考察了英语专业学生转喻能力对其阅读理解能力的影响。国内某高校英语专业各30人的两个班被确定为实验组与对照组接受转喻能力前测,并且在实验组接受转喻能力培训而对照组不接受培训后,两个组再次接受转喻能力与阅读理解能力的测试。研究表明,转喻能力是可培养的;转喻能力强的学生的阅读理解能力也较强;转喻能力对阅读理解能力的具体影响要素包括描写、解释与评价转喻的能力和从宏观与微观之间关系解读语篇的能力。
Metonymic competence is a kind of communicative competence that should be possessed by language learners.This study investigates the influence of English majors’ metonymic competence on their reading comprehension ability.Two classes of English majors,with 30 students in each class,were chosen as the experimental group and control group respectively and were both evaluated about their metonymic competence prior to the teaching experiment.They were both re-evaluated about their metonymic competence and reading comprehension ability respectively after the experimental group had been trained of their metonymic competence while the control group had not been.The findings show that English majors’ metonymic competence can be cultivated,and that those with higher metonymic competence did better than those with lower metonymic competence in their reading comprehension ability.Moreover,metonymic competence does exert some impact on reading comprehension ability in terms of metonymic description,metonymic interpretation,metonymic evaluation,and the ability to interpret texts from macro and micro levels.
