After decided to serve the Yuan Dynasty, Zhao Mengfu made extraordinary achievements in poetry, calligraphy and painting, and his motivation is reflected in the masterpieces. He tried hard to put Confucian theories into practice, distinguish the truth from the false, and pass on the Confucian classics;he attempted to reshape images of monarchs and subjects, and describe the perfect Confucian politics;he also advocated people-oriented thoughts and depicted the ideal society of Confucianism. His original motivation for becoming an official is exactly his ambition of revitalizing Confucianism and making Confucian virtues benefit the people.
