Kiichiro Kanda’s book The Historical Narrative of Composition of Japanese Ci makes a comprehensive summary of the history of Japanese Ci, but it’s somewhat regretful that there are still some authors not mentioned, two of whom are Gojou Shimura, a scholar from Sendaihan and Tousen Takeuchi, a professor of Keigakukan, which was the noble school of Nihonmatsuhan. Both Shimura and Takeuchi have made contributions to Japanese Ci, so it is of great academic significance to introduce their lives and collect their works which are lost. In addition, Shimura also communicated with the Cantonese who drifted to Japan, which complements the historical facts of Sino-Japanese maritime cultural exchanges.
