The new liberal arts concept attaches importance to the integration of disciplines in responding to the challenges of technology and social development, and emphasizes that the essence of discipline construction lies in innovation. It fits logically with discipline construction and provides guidance for discipline construction in terms of targets, methods and guarantees.Based on this, the paper analyzes the bottleneck of the construction of law discipline in police colleges and universities, including fuzzy positioning of the relationship between law and police discipline construction, problems brought by separation mode, and challenges brought to its construction by the development of rule of law and new technology in the information age.Under the background of the new liberal arts, the construction of law disciplines in police colleges and universities is expected to adopt a“coupling mode”that combines the construction of public security disciplines. However, from the perspective of the“integration degree”of disciplines,it is appropriate to adopt the transitional mode in the transformation stage with coupling pattern as final destination. This paper systematically demonstrates the essence, purpose and necessity of coupling model, and proposes specific innovative construction measures from the aspects of new growth point of discipline construction, discipline team, scientific research, talent training, base construction, discipline management and so on.
