高管任期对商业银行经营绩效的影响研究——以中国沪深A股商业银行为例

Research On The Performance Of Banking Institutions Based On Executive Tenure Evidence from China’s Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed commercial banks

商业银行高管作为影响商业银行发展的重要因素,其任期的长短直接决定商业银行的战略决策、经营管理,进而作用到商业银行的经营绩效,分析商业银行高管任期对经营绩效的影响具有十分重要的现实意义。本文选取2000-2020年我国沪深A股上市商业银行董事长、行长作为考察对象,采用面板数据探讨商业银行董事长、行长任期与商业银行经营绩效之间的关系。研究发现,现行制度框架下,大部分商业银行董事长、行长任期距离理论最大效用值有较大差距。在现有任期水平下,未能充分发挥商业银行董事长、行长对商业银行经营绩效的最大化效用。据此,建议进一步完善商业银行“三会一层”的公司治理体系、优化商业银行人力资源规划与激励机制、合理延长商业银行董事长、行长任期,从而提高商业银行经营绩效。

As a major factor of commercial banks developing,the tenure of their senior executives impacts the strategic decisions and management methods,and then changes the performance of commercial banks.It is significant to analyze how the senior executives’tenure impacts the performance of commercial banks.This paper selects the chairman and president of China’s Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed commercial banks from 2000 to 2020 as the object of investigation,and uses panel data to carry out empirical research for discussing the tenures of chairmans(presidents)and the Performance of commercial banks.The study found out that under the current institutional framework,there is a large gap between the tenures and the theoretical maximum utility value.Under the current tenure level,the chairman and president of commercial banks fail to give full play to the maximum effectiveness of commercial bank operation.Therefore,this paper suggests to further improve the“three boards and one layer”corporate governance system of commercial banks,optimize the human resource planning and incentive mechanism of commercial banks,and reasonably extend the term of office of the chairman and president of commercial banks,so as to improve the level of commercial banks performance.
