YANGTZE RIVER DROUGHT The mudflats of a section of the Yangtze River in Chaisang District of Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, are laid bare due to decreased water levels on August 24. Since July, most areas of the Yangtze River basin have been experiencing high temperatures and there has been 45 percent less rainfall than usual, according to the Ministry of Water Resources. Local authorities have already implemented several drought relief measures, including cloud seeding.
