This paper analyzes the enlightenment of Sha Menghai’s calligraphy thought on higher calligraphy education:The calligraphy education in colleges and universities should encourage students to pay attention to small seal characters and block script,emphasize copying ancient calligraphy,learn from others’strengths and keep improving,find a new way in the process of integration,consolidate the cultural foundation in calligraphy learning,properly handle the relationship between tradition and in‐novation,and learn from different teachers and explore the cause of things.The construction of calligra‐phy should be developed systematically and scientifically.The introduction of Sha Menghai’s calligraphy thoughts into the teaching of calligraphy in colleges and universities is conducive to breaking through the current difficulties and improving the quality of calligraphy teaching.
