Syntactic Features of Serial Verb Constructions in the Bouyei Language from the Perspective of Linguistic Typology

布依语连动结构可分为对称型和不对称型两类。通过考察分析,发现布依语连动结构的句法特征主要表现于单句性、语法范畴和论元3个方面。其中,单句性受限明显;语法范畴以对时范畴语义的单一性限制最为显著,而对体范畴和极性赋值的限制就开放得多;论元方面,主语论元共享是常态且具有强制性,宾语论元共享不具有强制性。

Serial verb constructions in the Bouyei language can be divided into two types,the symmetric ones and the asymmetric ones.Through investigation and analysis,we find that the syntactic features of the Bouyei serial verb constructions are manifested mainly in three aspects:monoclausality,grammatical categories and arguments.Specifically,the restraint on monoclausality is quite strict;in terms of grammatical categories,it is significant that the serial verbs have to share a single temporal domain while it is quite flexible as to restrictions on the aspect category and polarity assignment;in terms of the arguments,subject-sharing is normal and mandatory while object-sharing is noncompulsory.
