城市设计的再生--从同济出发的学科探索之路

Regeneration of Urban Design A Journey of Disciplinary Exploration Based on the Education at Tongji University

同济大学建筑与城市规划学院的城市设计学科建设历经了多个阶段的发展。作者以个人的学习和研究为视角,回顾了同济早期城市设计教学和实践的起步,同时以自身的经历和研究工作,分析了西方城市设计的主要理论所针对的问题和主要主张,与中国当前城市发展现状进行对比和分析,由此针对中国城市更新的前景提出城市再生的理念。

Urban design as an academic discipline has gone through a few stages of development within the College of Architecture and Urban Planning(CAUP)at Tongji University.This article provides a retrospective examination of the beginning and the experiments of teaching and practice of urban design within the education system of CAUP in the early years from the author’s perspective first as a student and then researcher.It is followed by a comparison of the experience and challenges of urbanization in the United States as well as an analysis of the way in which theories of urban design have developed against the background of the transformation of American cities since the late twentieth century.The author sees a renaissance of large cities both in China and the West,accompanied by the surge of practices in urban design,and calls for thorough research around the concept of urban regeneration in response to the changing contexts of future cities.
