Establishing the System of Fostering Virtue through Education in the World-class University to Cultivate the Top-notch Talents:The Exploration of HUST

高校立身之本在于立德树人。只有培养出一流人才的高校才能成为世界一流大学。近年来,华中科技大学明确提出以建设立德树人体系为抓手,全面落实立德树人根本任务。华中科技大学坚持边探索实践边总结完善,建立了思想道德教育体系、科学知识教育体系、实践能力教育体系、综合素质教育体系、创新创业教育体系有机构成的“五位一体”立德树人体系。实践证明,该体系在培养德智体美劳全面发展的社会主义建设者和接班人,推进中国特色世界一流大学建设,服务国家构建高质量高等教育体系等方面发挥了积极作用。

The key to developing the world-class university is to cultivate top-notch talents.Through years of exploration, Huazhong University of Science and Technology(HUST)has established a“five-in-one”holistic system to foster students’ virtue through education,which is organically integrated by five pillars of education on students’ morality and integrity,scientific knowledge,practical ability,comprehensive quality,as well as innovation and entrepreneurship.The system has been proved to play an active role in the following aspects:nurturing the capable young people with integrated development for socialism construction,advancing the development of the world-class university with Chinese characteristics,and facilitating the country to build the high-quality higher education system.
