The Luojiapo site is located in Ayue Village of Mali Town, Dechang County, Sichuan Province. From July to September 2018, the Research Center for Mountain Archaeology and Conservation of Cultural Heritage of Chongqing Normal University conducted archaeological excavations at the site together with Sichuan Province Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and other units, to cooperate with the construction of the Chengdu-Kunming Railway Project, revealing a shaft tomb, four ash ditches, nine ash pits, a house foundation, a large number of pillar holes and other relics, along with over 30 pieces of artifacts including stone tools and potteries. The site dates from the late Warring States period to the early and middle phases of Western Han Dynasty. Generally speaking, the remains can be divided into two categories: the first category includes relics other than IIM1, which belong to the late stage of the Dashimu( "Large Stone Tomb") period;the second category includes only IIM1, which yielded few relics with no comparative materials available yet. The excavation of the tomb provides important information for further exploration of the shape and burial customs of the archaeological cultures in the Anning River basin between the late Warring States period and the middle to late phases of Western Han Dynasty. The excavation of house foundation and pillar holes is of great academic significance for the study of the architectural forms and habitation patterns of the Dashimu period in the region.
