摘要
西方文学作品标题表达直白明晰,多用物象描写;而中国文学作品标题余味无穷,多用象征手法。中西翻译家们互译文学作品标题时在不同历史时期采用不同的翻译策略,在翻译早期大都采用意译——典型的翻译手法“归化法”来译介文学作品标题,20世纪中期以后翻译家们倾向于采用直译——典型的翻译手法“异化法”。当然这些翻译策略的采用都是以读者的需求为前提的。通过一辈又一辈翻译家们长期辛勤的劳动,不同审美文化得到接触、碰撞直至交融。
Titles of Western literary works are characterized by being frank,explicit,and usually depicting directly;while Chinese ones indicate vagueness and implicitness leaving a lot for reflection,symbolism is applied frequently.Then,we discuss different translating methods applied by Western and Chinese translators in different historical times.In early times,translators adopted mostly the method of free translation-the typical translation method“Domestication”to help readers to admire exotic culture,After Mid 20th century,translators tended to use literal translation method-the typical translation method“Foreignizing Translation”.Actually the using of these alternative methods is under the premise of meeting the demand of readers.Meanwhile,we come to a conclusion that the different cultures of aesthetic appreciation between Chinese and Western people began to contact,experience conflicts and finally blended through the constant hard work of generations of translators.
