出山与否:同治十三年前后吴大澂致阎敬铭信札考释

Accept the application or not : The textual research on Wu Dacheng’s letters to Yan Jingming

吴大澂与阎敬铭均为晚清名臣。故宫博物院藏有吴大澂致阎敬铭信札1通,与新近出版的5通吴大澂致阎敬铭信札,均作于同治十三年前后吴大澂任陕甘学政期间,内容均与吴大澂邀请阎敬铭出山讲学相关。这6通信札,对了解同治末叶陕甘地区的文教恢复与士林学风,吴大澂在陕甘学政任上的政绩,阎敬铭乡居时不预外事的操守,均有一定的价值。

Wu Dacheng and Yan Jingming were both famous persons in the late Qing Dynasty. The Palace Museum contains 1 letter from Wu Dacheng to Yan Jingming, and recently published 5 letters from Wu Dacheng to Yan Jingming. These 6 letters were written in 1874 during Wu Dacheng’s tenure in Shaanxi, and the main contents were related to Wu Dacheng’s invitation of Yan Jingming to give lectures. These letters are valuable for understanding the cultural and educational recovery and academic atmosphere in Shaanxi and Gansu at the end of Tongzhi, Wu Dacheng’s political achievements in Shaanxi and Gansu, and Yan Jingming’s valuable ethics of not interfering in external affairs during his seclusion.
