In cross-cultural communication,barriers caused by different cultural backgrounds are common.David Brooks puts forward in The Social Animal that “we are not independent individuals,but rather irrational social animals which can influence each other.” People’s behavior is closely related to their social and cultural environment.This paper takes the differences between Chinese and American views of marriage as the starting point,analyzes the manifestations of the differences in views of marriage,and discusses the cultural causes behind them,so as to avoid cross-cultural communication conflicts and carry out effective cross-cultural communication.
