In recent years, WeChat has become the largest and most widely used online communication tool in China. Emoji plays a very important role in the communication between individuals and provides great interest and convenience to communication. It is wildly loved by people around the world and becomes an important information carrier.This paper will take the network emoji on WeChat platform as the research object, investigate the characteristics of these powerful emoticons and the main functions they play in the virtual environment, and discuss the reasons for their rise and popularity.
