The subtitle translation of films is subject to the limitation of time and space in the appearance of subtitles.The use of intertextuality strategies in subtitle translation not only helps viewers understand important intertextual references in the film,but also promotes deep cultural exchanges,helping the target audience to overcome language and cultural differences.Starting from Kristeva’s intertextuality,taking the subtitle translation in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them as an example,we can not only find the positive effect of significant intertextuality,intertextual intertextuality and multimodal intertextuality on subtitle translation,but also provide a new research perspective for the similar type of translation.
