摘要
王麦杆是一位常常被忽略的中国现代木刻大家。从20世纪40年代初入读上海美专开始,他走上了木刻创作和抗日救亡之路。在中华人民共和国成立前,王麦杆主要生活在上海,通过他的大量作品,可以阅读出这里从抗战孤岛到全面解放的历史进程。此外,他1947年的台湾之行也留下了不少珍贵的、具有重要历史价值的作品。同时,王麦杆在木刻的艺术和技术两方面不断继承和创新,展现出极高的天分,并推动了中国版画史的发展,尤其是在套色木刻方面,成绩非常显著。
Wang Maigan, though often neglected, is a great woodcut artist in modern China. He started to create woodcuts and contribute to resisting Japanese invaders after studying at the Shanghai Academy of Art in the early 1940s. Living in Shanghai before the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, he created many artworks that demonstrated the process from the city resisting Japanese invaders alone to its whole liberation. The artist also made many precious artworks of significant historic value in his trip to Taiwan in 1947. With great talent, Wang Maigan carried for ward and innovated the art and techniques of woodcut and promoted print development in China, in particular making great achievements in color woodcut.
