美国媒体中的湖南省域形象研究

A Study on Hunan Provincial Image in the US Media Reports

运用语料库辅助的话语分析法,从微观话语角度出发,定量、定性相结合地实证研究湖南省域形象建构。从NOW语料库中选取2010年至2020年美媒涉湘新闻,运用AntConc4.0.0软件通过检索语料中Hunan一词了解美媒对湖南的关注与湖南省域形象构建。研究发现:1. NOW语料库显示美国是英语内圈国家中最关注湖南的国家,主要聚焦于湖南新冠疫情、科技和洪灾等;2.有些疫情报到较为客观,有些科技与洪灾等报道中由于报道者将信息进行选择性的过滤,使得科技报道和洪灾等报道隐含了对中国的偏见,具有了非“纯新闻”的特性;3.部分美媒把湖南构建成一个采取正常的抗疫措施、科技发展中的中国中部省份,但也通过选择性的报道将湖南构建成作为竞争对手中国的密不可分的省份之一。

Applying a corpus-assisted discourse framework featured with both quantitative and qualitative methods, this research conducts an empirical study on the construction of Hunan Provincial Image. It analyzes the American reports(selected from NOW Corpus between 2010-2020) to expose the focus of American media and the construction of the Image. The findings are as follows:1. According to the Corpus,the US media pays the most attention to Hunan among the inner English-speaking countries,and it focuses on Hunan’s COVID-19 epidemic, high-tech, floods, and protection of the minors;2. Some media reports on the epidemic were objective,while some reports on science and technology and flood showed bias against China because the reporters selectively filtered the information,which made the reports not“pure”;3. Some US media constructed Hunan as a central Chinese province with normal anti-epidemic measures and technological development,but also as one of the inseparable provinces of China its rival through selective reporting.
