Chinese Newspaper Supplements in the New Century and the Expansion of Space for Chinese Literary Criticism in Malaysia

文学批评的副刊化生存与运作是马华文坛令人瞩目的现象。新世纪华文报纸副刊在批评队伍的梯队建设、文学史料的发掘与谱系建构等方面发挥了重要作用,并借力与网络媒体的互动,进一步开拓了马华文学批评空间。学术研究是马华族群构建民族想象的重要途径。马华文学批评不是单纯的文学问题,同时是政治问题、文化问题,与华人的政治社会地位、文化教育权益等现实问题纠缠在一起。马华文学批评的主体性建构,以及华文报纸副刊给予的推介包蕴着马华族群以文学志业“拯救”历史记忆的诉求,以此抗衡马来人主导的单元化国族历史意识,同时谋求马华学界在世界华文学界的学术占位。由此可以了解马华文学生态和马来西亚华人的情感结构与文化诉求。

The existence and operation of literary criticism supplements is a remarkable phenomenon in the Chinese literary circles in Malaysia. The Chinese newspaper supplement in the new century has played an important role in the construction of the criticism team,the excavation of literary historical materials and the construction of pedigree,while the interaction with the Internet media has further expanded the space for Chinese literary criticism in Malaysia. The academic research is an important way for the Malaysian-Chinese ethnic group to construct their national imagination,since the Chinese-Malaysian literary criticism is not only a purely literary issue,but also a political and cultural issue,which is intertwined with the political and social status,cultural and educational rights of the Malaysian-Chinese ethnic group.The subjective construction of Chinese-Malaysian literary criticism and the promotion given by the Chinese newspaper supplement embody the demands of the Malaysian Chinese to“rescue”the historical memory through literary endeavors,so as to counter the Malay-dominated unialistic consciousness of national history and to seek the academic position of the Malaysian-Chinese academic circles in the world Chinese literary field. From this,an understanding can be gained of the ecology of Chinese literature in Malaysia as well as of the emotional structure and cultural aspirations of the Chinese people in Malaysia.
