In 2019, the technical committee on environmental management of the International Organization for Standardization(ISO/TC 207) published ISO 14002-1, Environmental management systems – guidelines for using ISO 14001 to address environmental aspects and conditions within an environmental topic area – Part 1:General. It aims to provide generic guidance to organizations seeking to systematically manage environmental aspects or respond to changing environmental conditions based on ISO 14001 in one or more environmental subject areas. This paper focuses on the objectives and significance, key terms and definitions of developing the international standard ISO14002-1, examples of implementation steps and methods for applying ISO14001 to address environmental aspects and conditions for a particular environmental topic area.
