The field of literary and cultural criticism is experiencing the return of ethical criticism, and the issue of animal ethics has become an important issue in ethical criticism. This paper rereads the two classic children’s books,“The Tale of Peter Rabbit”and“The Rose and the Beast”,to study the issue of the boundary between humans and animals and the relationship between the human and the animal. Both of the stories break the boundary between humans and animals, and show the“humanity”of animals as well as the“animality”of humans. The relationship between humans and animals is no longer a relationship of“the same”and“the other”,but a relationship of“common existence”and respect.
