Transocean Films:Dissemination and Acceptance of Chinese Films in the Chinese Canadian Community in the 1980s

八十年代是中国电影在加拿大传播的重要时期。这一时期,得益于多元文化政策以及中国本土电影事业的发展,中国电影在加拿大华人社群有了更广泛、更深入的传播。在具体的传播过程中,昔日华人移民建造的戏院、香港本土电影公司在加开辟的院线成为八十年代华人社群中放映电影的主要阵地;在市场表现上,香港地区商业电影占据绝对优势,而内地电影以及香港和台湾的艺术电影则更多时候扮演了文化交流的角色,但从另一个角度而言,后者往往被华人的专业影评人所垂青,在文章中他们以独到的眼光和多元的视角表达着自己的真知灼见,从而还原出了华人眼中的中国电影。

The 1980s was an important period for the spread of Chinese films in Canada.During this period,thanks to the multiculturalism policy and the development of Chinese local film industry,Chinese films had a wider and deeper spread in the Canadian Chinese community.In the specific process of transmission,theatres built by Chinese immigrants in the past and theaters opened by local film companies in Hong Kong became the main positions for film screening in the Chinese community in the 1980s.On market performance,the Hong Kong commercial film occupied absolute advantage,and the mainland and Hong Kong and Taiwan art movies are more often played the role of cultural exchange,but from another point of view,the latter tend to favor by Chinese professional film critic,in their articles they expressed their insights with their unique vision and multiple angle of view,thus restored the Chinese film in the eyes of the Chinese.
