文化自觉视域下《诗经·国风》中本源概念词的英译策略

Translation Strategies of Source-Bound Vocabulary in Book of Songs:National Customs from the Perspective of Cultural Consciousness

《诗经》中的本源概念词蕴含着丰富的语言特点和文化内涵,彰显着中华民族独特的思想理念和民俗文化价值。近些年,文化外译过多地观照“读者接受度和读者视野”,缺失文化自觉。文化自觉论认为,“自知之明”与“他知之明”的结合才能达到“美美与共,天下大同”的理想状态。就本源概念词英译而言,译者应以“历时性、主体性和适度性”为准则,采取直译法、音译法、音译加注法和意译法来处理表层本源概念词,采用直译法、意译法、增译法和创译法来处理深层本源概念词。

Source-bound vocabulary in Book of Songs: National Customs is rich in linguistic and cultural connotation, highlighting the unique ideas and folk cultural values of the Chinese nation. In recent years, cultural Chinese-foreign language translation is lost in the sense of cultural integrity in over emphasizing “readers’ acceptance and view”. The theory of cultural consciousness holds that only when “knowing one self ” and “knowing the other” are well balanced, can “goals of self and others be unified, thus the world harmonized”. As far as the Chinese-English translation of source-bound vocabulary is concerned, the translator should take “diachrony, subjectivity and appropriateness” as the criterion to translate the superficial source-bound vocabulary by means of literal translation, transliteration, transliteration together with annotation, and free translation, and deep-seated source-bound vocabulary through literal translation, free translation, additional translation, and creative translation.
