Dylan Thomas’ s poem "In Country Sleep" depicts an idyllic community in which harmony and conflict coexist with magnificent imagination. The usual pastoral poetry is quiet and serene, but the images of violence and restlessness in Thomas’ s poem occupy half of the country. Thomas’ ingenious theme setting has a historical origin.
