Intellectual Property Demonstration Cities and the Improvement of Urban Total Factor Productivity

将中国知识产权示范城市设立视为准自然实验,使用2004—2019年地级及以上城市面板数据,建立渐近双重差分模型,研究知识产权示范城市设立如何影响城市全要素生产率。实证研究发现,知识产权示范城市设立能显著促进城市全要素生产率提升;异质性检验发现,知识产权示范城市的全要素生产率提升效应在东部地区、行政等级高的城市以及经济规模大、人口规模大的城市其效果更加明显;机制检验发现,技术创新和产业结构升级是知识产权示范城市提升城市全要素生产率的作用机制。拓展分析表明,知识产权示范城市提升城市全要素生产率的政策效果存在空间溢出效应。并根据研究结论,提出相应政策建议。

This paper regards the establishment of intellectual property demonstration cities as a quasi-natural experiment,and uses the panel data of cities at prefecture level and the above from 2004 to 2019 to establish a gradual difference-in-differences model,aiming to study how the establishment of intellectual property demonstration cities affects urban total factor productivity.The empirical study finds that the establishment of intellectual property demonstration cities can significantly promote the improvement of urban total factor productivity;The heterogeneity test finds that the improvement effects of total factor productivity in intellectual property demonstration cities are more obvious in the eastern region,cities with high administrative level,and cities with large economic scale and large population scale;The mechanism test also finds that technological innovation and industrial structure upgrading are the mechanisms for intellectual property demonstration cities to improve urban total factor productivity.The expansion analysis shows that the policy effect for intellectual property demonstration cities to promote urban total factor productivity has a spatial spillover effect.Policy recommendations are put forward according to the conclusions.
