摘要
本文基于手动搜集的2004—2017年全球前100大语言服务企业数据,实证检验了国际贸易对语言服务企业绩效的影响。面板回归分析表明,国际贸易的增长显著提升了语言服务企业的经营绩效,并且相对于进口和货物贸易,出口和服务贸易对语言服务企业经营绩效的促进作用更大。这一促进作用与语言距离正相关,即一国与其贸易伙伴的平均语言距离越远,国际贸易对语言服务企业的促进作用越强。基准结果在不同维度的稳健性分析中保持稳健,并且不受内生性问题的影响。本文的研究表明,国际贸易不但影响贸易企业,而且对非贸易企业具有溢出效应。
Based on panel regression analyses of the 2004—2017 top 100 language service firms reveal that international trade improves the operating performance of language service firms,and exports and services trade have larger impacts than imports and goods trade.This positive effect is positively associated with language distance,i.e.,it is more pronounced when the average language distance between a country and its trading partners is longer.The baseline results are robust to various sensitivity checks and are not affected by endogeneity problems.Overall,our analyses suggest that international trade not only affects firms that participate in trade,but also has spillover effects on those firms that do not.
