A Study of Mao Zedong’s Views on Wu Zetian

毛泽东认为武则天是了不起的女人、确实是个治国之才、有自知之明、荒淫之事值得商量。从毛泽东对武则天的正面评价中,既可以清楚地看出毛泽东对武则天在做事、做人方面整体上是称赞的,也可以看出毛泽东对中国广大女性的高度重视和热情鼓励,同时也可以看出毛泽东“观人观大节,略小故”的识人方略。同时,毛泽东认为武则天的造字没有生命力、牡丹开花令违反规律。从毛泽东对武则天的负面评价中,既可以看出对武的严肃批评,也可以看出毛泽东对党内存在的形式主义的严厉批判,对共产党人推进马克思主义中国化的热切期盼,还可以看出毛泽东一生尊重规律、坚持真理、不怕压、不信邪的优秀品质。

Mao Zedong believed that Wu Zetian “was a great woman”, “was indeed a talent for governing the country”, “has self-knowledge” and “dissolute affairs are worth discussing”. From Mao Zedong’s positive evaluation of Wu Zetian, it can be clearly seen that Mao Zedong praised Wu Zetian as a whole in terms of doing things and being a person, and it can also be seen that Mao Zedong attached great importance to and enthusiastically encouraged the majority of women in China. At the same time, it can be seen that Mao Zedong’s strategy of “seeing people, watching big festivals, and ignoring small stories”. At the same time, Mao Zedong believed that Wu Zetian’s word-formation had no vitality and that the peony blooming order violated the law. From Mao Zedong’s negative evaluation of Wu Zetian, we can see not only his serious criticism of Wu, but also Mao Zedong’s severe criticism of the formalism existing in the CPC, and his eager expectation for the Communists to promote the sinicization of Marxism. It can be seen that Mao Zedong respected the law, adhered to the truth, was not afraid of pressure, and did not believe in evil in his life.
