At present,the development of digital economy and digital industry has become the key to enhancing regional core competitiveness.Although the digital economy in the western regions has made some progress under the digital wave,there is still a big gap compared with the eastern and central regions.The implementation of the project of“East Data and West Calculation”brings new opportunities for the economic development of the western regions.The research points out that the western regions have the resource endowment advantage of undertaking the project of“East Data and West Calculation”,and are also forming a policy-favoured lowland conducive to the development of digital industry.The project of“East Data and West Calculation”has opened a new round of industrial transfer between the east and the west,represented by the data industry.This industrial transfer has inevitability,difference and linkage.The“East Data and West Calculation”project can promote the increase of big data platform enterprises,drive the development of data industry,and empower the upgrading of industrial structure.It has three-fold values in driving the economic growth of the western regions:the direct effect of investment,the micro effect of the change of the combination of production factors,and the macro effect of optimizing the dynamic balance of national economy.In the future,the western regions should base on the five aspects of the foundation layer,linkage layer,cultivation layer,integration layer and literacy layer to deeply tap the dividend of data industry development,cultivate the economic growth pole of the western regions,and open up the“second growth curve”of the development of the western regions.
