Structural Imbalance and Dynamic Imbalance of Modernity

现代性包括代表生存与欲望的感性层面、包含工具理性与价值理性的理性层面和代表反思与批判的超越层面。中国现代性结构存在不均衡状态:感性层面极端膨胀、过度推崇工具理性使人文理性发展不充分、超越层面基本缺失。究其原因是民主与自由、科技与人文、欲望与超越等现代性发展动力的失衡。现代性的动力与结构失衡最终以社会文化结构失衡的样态展演出来,即大众文化极端膨胀与精英文化的式微。

Modernity includes the perceptual level representing existence and desire,the rational level containing instrumental rationality and value rationality,and the transcendental level representing reflection and criticism.There is an unbalanced state in the structure of Chinese Modernity.The extreme expansion of the perceptual level and the excessive promotion of instrumental rationality make the development of humanistic rationality inadequate,and the basic lack of transcendental level.The reason is the imbalance of the motive force of modern development,such as democracy and freedom,science and technology and humanity,desire and transcendence.The imbalance of the power and structure of modernity is finally manifested in the form of the imbalance of the social and cultural structure,that is,the extreme expansion of mass culture and the decline of elite culture.
