摘要 茅以升是我国著名的土木工程学家、中国科学院院士、美国工程院外籍院士。我国现代建筑史上有三项彪炳史册的伟大工程与茅以升的名字紧紧相连——钱塘江大桥、武汉长江大桥与北京人民大会堂。茅以升身为杰出科学家而兼具工匠精神;作为教育大家教育思想独到,门下人才辈出;茅以升还在弘扬传统治学之道与科普创作方面作出了独特的贡献。茅以升的一生,不仅为中华大地架设了现实的大桥,也为炎黄子孙构筑了文化的桥梁,为后学渡越科技与文史之沟作出了示范。 Mao Yisheng,a famous civil engineer in China,was an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a foreign academician of the American Academy of Engineering.There are three great projects in the history of modern architecture in China,which are closely linked to his name-Qiantang River Bridge,Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge and Beijing Great Hall of the People.As an outstanding scientist,Mao Yisheng had the spirit of craftsman while,as an educator,he had unique educational thoughts,and cultivated many talents.He also made a unique contribution in promoting the traditional way of learning and creating popular science works.He built not only real bridges but also a cultural bridge for the Chinese people,and made a role model for later generations to cross the gap between science and technology and arts.
