明末高僧憨山德清一生致力于禅宗的复兴,但同时也是一位有成就的义学沙门,特别是对华严学有较深的造诣,其对华严学的弘扬是明代华严学复兴的重要契机。其晚年编纂的《华严经纲要》一书,对华严学的传承与发展有着重要的思想史意义。

Hanshan Deqing,an eminent monk at the end of the Ming Dynasty,not only devoted his life to the revival of Zen Buddhism,but also was an accomplished monk of doctrinal study who especially with deep attainments in Huayan school.His promotions of Huayan were an important opportunity for the revival of Huayan studies in the Ming Dynasty.The Huayan jing gangyao compiled in his later years,had important ideological historical significance for the inheritance and development of Huayan school.
