摘要
听说是儿童语言习得中的关键能力,听说能力的高低直接影响着儿童阅读能力和写作能力的发展。本研究采用根据《中国英语能力等级量表》中对应小学阶段的一、二级听说能力描述而研发的北英测评一级考试,对小学1到6年级学生的英语听说能力进行评估。研究发现,小学生的听力理解能力和口头表达能力均比较欠缺,能力变化呈现低年级停滞不前,中年级显著上升和高年级进步趋缓的特征。
Young learners’ ability in listening comprehension and oral production is vital to language development. Proficiency in listening and speaking is directly tied to young learners’ reading and writing development. The present study uses Proficiency Exam for Young English Learners(PEYEL)(Beginner Level) which aligns well with China’s Standards of English Language Ability(CSE) Level 1 and Level 2 for listening comprehension and for oral production to assess elementary school students’ listening comprehension and oral production. It is found that students’ overall ability in both regards is relatively deficient and that the ability development displays features with stagnation in low grades, significant rise in intermediate grades and slow progress in senior grades.
