The characteristics and applications of dimethyl carbonate are reviewed, and the industrial synthesis technologies of dimethyl carbonate are analyzed and compared. The synthesis routing by gas-phase oxidative carbonylation of methanol has more cost competitive, and the direct synthesis of dimethyl carbonate from CO_(2)is one of the most prospective technology in the future. The market status of dimethyl carbonate in the background of carbon peaking and neutrality is analyzed, and the future development trend is prospected. It is considered that according to the market demand, adopting advanced technology, reasonably carrying out capacity improvement and product layout is the direction to promote the healthy development of the industry and enterprises.
