New Development Philosophy Leads Development of Desalination in China

全球水资源短缺日趋严重,已成为各国必须面对的重大问题。我国水资源总体短缺,新发展阶段对持续利用水资源提出了更高的要求。海水淡化在中东、北非等地区大规模推广应用,已经成为一些国家和地区的主要或重要水源,对我国有重要借鉴。提升海水淡化的战略定位,不仅必要而且正当其时。坚定不移地贯彻新发展理念,坚持根本宗旨、坚持问题导向、坚持忧患意识应当是贯穿海水淡化发展的红线,以此为指引来促进其规模化应用、高质量发展,提高我国水安全保障能力,推进水资源集约安全利用。

The growing global water scarcity has become a greatest issue facing all countries over the world. China, with the domestic shortage of water resources overall, is confronted with greater challenges for sustainable usage of water at the new stage of development.Seawater desalination has been widely applied in the Middle East and North Africa, which has become the main water source for several countries and regions. Inspired by this, to promote the seawater desalination as the strategic resource is essential and at the right time. It should be the redline all through the development of desalination to commit to the new development philosophy, adhere to the fundamental purpose,problem-oriented, and mindful of potential dangers. Guided by this concept, it would facilitate the large-scale application and high-quality development of seawater desalination, and boost the water safety security ability as well as advance the intensive and safe utility of water resources in China.
