Andy Warhol,a leading figure in pop art,created works on wide-raging themes and subjects such as stars,news,and crimes.Based on the concept and theory of one-dimension by philosopher Herbert Marcuse,this article interprets the deep connotations in the works including Marilyn Monroe series,129 Die in Jet!,13 Most Wanted Man and Electric Chair series from the perspective of culture,discourse,and emotion.Warhol’s art works skillfully combine colorfulness with monotony,which not only reflects Warhol’s superb artistic thinking,but also expresses his concern for the living conditions and inner world of human beings.
