关联理论指导下《生死疲劳》中的民族特色文化英译研究

由于民族特色文化具有鲜明的民族性和时代性特征,译者在翻译时既需要充分理解其所具备的意义和内涵,又要能够准确将信息传递给目的语读者,因此一直是翻译的难点之一。关联翻译理论强调的最佳关联性对于翻译民族特色文化的研究和实践具有指导作用。莫言的《生死疲劳》一书中存在大量关于民族特色文化的描写,该文尝试在关联理论的指导下,以美国汉学家葛浩文译《生死疲劳》为对象,探讨中国民族特色文化的英译策略和方法。

Mo Yan’s book Life and Death Are Wearing Me Out contains a large number of descriptions of ethnic cultures.Because of the distinctive national and contemporary characteristics of ethnic cultures,translators need to fully understand their meanings and connotations while accurately transmitting the information to the target language readers,so it has been one of the difficulties in translation.The relevance-translation theory,which emphasizes optimal relevance,is a guide to the study and practice of translating the ethnic cultures.Taking the American sinologist Howard Goldblatt’s translation of Life and Death Are Wearing Me Out as an object,this paper attempts to explore the strategies and methods of English translation of Chinese ethnic cultures under the guidance of the relevance-translation theory.
