Folklore Motifs in Keats’s Lamia

本文从西方民间文学母题分类的角度,分析了济慈叙事诗《拉米娅》可能借鉴的欧洲、亚洲和非洲等地区的民间文学母题和基本情节。在此背景下,本文指出《拉米娅》开篇"赫尔墨斯插曲"部分有两处尚未被西方济慈研究学者发现的欧洲民间文学母题,并结合西方民俗学和济慈研究的成果,分析了两处母题对深入和全面地理解"赫尔墨斯插曲"及其对整首诗歌情节和寓意的影响。

From the perspective of western folklore-motif studies,this paper tries to illustrate the possible folklore motifs of European,Asian and African folklore literature in Keats’ s narrative poem Lamia.This paper points out two important folklore motifs that Western Keats scholars have not recognized.By means of the combined analysis of Western folklore studies and Keats studies,this paper intends to make a detailed analysis of these two folklore motifs and offer a unique perspective regarding the meanings of "Hermes Episode" and its significance to the whole poem.
