Zhang Qiyun’s View of Northwest Historical Geography

1934年9月张其昀随西北调查团人文地理分队进行了为期近一年的考察。针对西北地区的自然地理及开发中应注意的要点问题,提出了包括政区改革、交通建设、水利灌溉、人工林种植、畜牧业开发等方面诸多建议,并对西北各民族团结御辱,增进中华民族共同体意识等问题做出了阐释,为时人及时了解西北地区提供了真实的“资料”。强烈的经世倾向,力图为西北社会存在的问题寻求解决良方的现实关怀,在很大程度上折射出张其昀的学术取向。

Zhang Qiyun went to the northwest area for a one-year field investigation with the human geography division of the northwest investigation team since September,1934.Aiming at the scenic spot in northwest region and the key points during its development,he put forward recommendations including administrative division reform,traffic construction,water irrigation,plantation and animal husbandry development.He explained some issues such as the unity among various ethnic groups in the resistance against Japanese aggression in northwest,and enhancing the awareness of Chinese national community.The research he did provided people the real “data” to understand the northwest region in time.His inclination of applying knowledge to the world and realistic concern of seeking solutions to the problems existing in the northwest society reflect his academic orientation to a great extent.
