法国巴黎作为二战前欧洲乃至世界文明的中心,其政治、经济、文化等各个领域一度对世界各国产生巨大冲击,其影响力甚至波及了日本这一远东国家。随着20世纪20-50年代、世界局势的不断变化与“洋行”意义的交替更迭,日本对西方文明的认识不断发生改变。在这一日本审视外界、同时又通过外界不断审视自己的历史独特期,金子光晴、横光利一和森有正三人以其鲜明的东西文明观,共同构成了20世纪20-50年代“洋行”背景下、独特的意识形态链与文化景观,是那个时代日本作家“巴黎”体验的缩影。而这些在其一篇篇纪行文学作品中都得到了具象化体现。
