Tradition and Innovation:Thoughts About English Education in the New Era

本文简要回顾了中国外语教育的历史与现状,分析了新形势下所面临的挑战与机遇,探索外语教育在新时代如何坚持守正与创新。外语教育一方面要遵循传统外语教育的内在发展规律,保持专业特色,另一方面要加强人文教育,提升学生的人文素养。与此同时,外语教育要与时俱进,把握外语学科的“时”与“势”,大力推进人才培养模式、学科交叉融合、信息技术应用等方面创新,为国家贡献外语教育的智慧和力量。

This paper briefly reviews the history and current situation of foreign language education in China,analyzes the challenges and opportunities faced in the new situation,and explores the way to keep balance between tradition and innovation in the area of foreign language education in the new era.The paper argues that foreign language education should,on the one hand,follow the basic laws in the tradition and maintain its effective specialties,and on the other hand,strengthen humanistic education to cultivate students’ humanistic qualities.Meanwhile,foreign language education should keep pace with the development of our country,grasp the opportunities in the new situation,and vigorously promote innovation in different aspects,such as the talent training model,interdisciplinary integration,and information technology application,so as to make a great contribution to our country.
