The Description of the English Prepositional Phrase Complexes System

英语介词短语复合体的描写一直存在分歧。本研究旨在厘清其发生理据,探究描写原则,从而实现系统性描写。英语介词短语复合体的描写应当考察三个要素:级阶位置、逻辑语义和经验语义。本研究发现,英语介词短语复合体是介词短语与关系小句中隐性范畴显性化配置的互补性作用形成的环境—参与者成分渐变群系统,并呈现为连接类、融合类和连接融合类三个基本类范畴,依据逻辑语义的差异性和经验成分的耦合可进一步分化识解。

A literature survey reveals that English prepositional phrase complexes are not given systemic functional descriptions.This study aims to establish principles for their descriptions and to develop a system network.It is argued that rank position,logical meaning and experiential meaning are crucial parameters.The study finds out that the overt configuration of prepositional phrase cryptotypes and that of relational clause cryptotypes are in complementation,under the influence of which prepositional phrase complexes form a circumstance-participant cline.Along the cline there are three categories,i.e.,conjunctional category,blending category and conjunctional-blending category.The coupling of different types of logical meaning with experiential elements makes each category instantiationized in greater delicacy.
