Giving Full Play to the Important Role of the Constitution in the Modernization of National Governance Guided by XI Jinping’s Thought on the Rule of Law

2022年是现行宪法公布施行四十周年,现行宪法为改革开放和社会主义现代化建设奠定了坚实的根本法基础,其五次修改都体现了党和人民事业的历史进步。四十年来,以宪法为核心的中国特色社会主义法律体系日益健全,人民当家作主的各项权利得到充分保障,尊重和保障人权的宪法原则不断落实深化,宪法实施的实践不断丰富。站在新的起点上,要以习近平法治思想为指导,加强宪法监督,推进合宪性审查,不断健全保证宪法全面实施的体制机制,充分发挥宪法在国家治理现代化中的重要作用。

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the promulgation and implementation of the Current Constitution, which has laid a solid fundamental legal foundation for reform, opening up and socialist modernization. The fve amendments have witnessed the progress of the cause of the Party and the people. Over the past 40 years, the socialist legal system with the Constitution as the core has been increasingly improved, the people’s rights as masters of the country have been fully guaranteed, the constitutional principle of respecting and protecting human rights has been continuously implemented and deepened, and the practice of implementing the Constitution has been enriched. Standing at a new starting point, we must, guided by XI Jinping’s Thought on the Rule of Law, strengthen constitutional supervision, advance constitutional review, continuously improve the institutional mechanisms to ensure the full implementation of the Constitution, and give full play to the important role of the Constitution in the modernization of national governance.
