The paper introduces an intelligent fire extinguishing system for a broad-gauge six-axle freight electric locomotive, including a control host, an operation display, a smoke and heat multi-sensor detector,a sound and light alarm and a fire extinguishing cabinet. The detector implements real-time monitoring on the machinery room when the system working. The detector collects the signal and sends data to the control host which receives and sends execution commands. The paper introduces the function of the main component,the selection of components and the application in locomotives.
