By recording the lineage of the blood group of the same ancestor and the deeds of important figures,the genealogy reflects the historical features,spirit of the times and social customs of the times,and helps people understand the production and living conditions of people in that historical background.It is a special carrier of the long history and culture of the Chinese nation and has rich research value.This paper introduces the basic situation,the origin of family name and the process of compiling the genealogy of Liu’s Five Successive Generations in Nanping,Changsha,and introduces the value of the genealogy from five aspects:literature value,pedagogy value,family autonomy cultural value,eugenics value and semantic value.
